Toulon

Toulon A city turned to the mediterranée

The history of Toulon, situated in the roads that are often considered as being Europe’s most beautiful roads, is for ever linked to the history of the Mediterranean Sea and the French Marine. The national marine museum is a beautiful example of this history. Boat trips are organised here, to visit the roads, the military boats on the quays and the fortifications.

The old town of Toulon is characterised by its privileged geographical location between the sea and the mountains, which has enabled it to develop rapidly thanks to its military and commercial port dating back to the old regime and located in a superb natural harbour. Nestled in the Var, about twenty minutes by car from Marseille, the city has thrived in a remarkable tourist atmosphere since its reconstruction in 1980, after it was destroyed by heavy bombardments during the Second World War.

If you are planning to spend your holidays on the French Riviera, a short detour to Toulon will be a good idea. Rich in activities and entertainment of all kinds, the city attracts many visitors every year, whether they are looking for sports activities or simply passionate about history. While staying at Camping Les Pêcheurs, you will have the opportunity to discover the Côte d'Azur and its most beautiful cities such as Toulon. The port city is about 92 km from the campsite, or 1h20 if you go by car.

If you come with your family, your children or parents, all kinds of thrilling activities await you for busy and friendly days. You have the choice between the high acrobatic park in Hyères, with its different courses, its zip lines, its climbing wall and its ejector, the Aoubré for its acrobatic courses in the middle of the forest, the Enigma Live Escape Game in La Garde, or the Kingdom of Trees near Castellet, which extends over 12 hectares of land for adventure.

If you wish to discover the region while having fun, the Groupement des Bateliers offers you the opportunity to escape through the beautiful bay of Toulon, and to enjoy the view on the various warships that are moored there. You can also discover the surroundings in a different way by Segway gyropods, by taking the tourist circuits which leave Toulon towards Hyères, Le Pradet, Bandol Ollioules, Six-Fours, Marseille and Ciotat. For a more than successful tourist day with your family, you can also try the rides on board the Centre-Var Tourist Train to discover the Côte d'Azur and its beautiful landscapes.

The choice is very wide, since you can also take advantage of your stay to visit the most interesting places in Toulon such as the Art Museum, the Navy Museum, the Museum of Asian Arts, the Saint Louis du Mourillon Marina, the Darse Vieille Marina, the Notre-Dame-de-la-Seds Cathedral, the Saint-François-de-Paul Church, the Royal Tower, the Fort Saint-Louis, the Fort Lamalgue, the Porte d'Italie, the Corderie and many others.

For nature lovers, a visit to Toulon's natural sites will do you the greatest good. Cap Brun, Mont Faron, as well as Pipady Point are essential places to better appreciate the landscape and the beauty of Mother Nature.

For your evenings, whether in the Mourillon district or in the Arts district, there are many good places to go for a family dinner, to dance, or to watch good films in the cinema.
